Since it was still a bit difficult to enter Peru f

Since it was still a bit difficult to enter Peru from Bolivia, we decided to drive quickly into Chile and cross the border at the coast. Since the weather got rainy again, we also hoped for some sunshine and warmth on the Desert Route in Chile.

But at the border to Chile it rained like crazy, so we needed a dry place to stay and found this nice trainstation.

We found the right lane less used, and hoped for the traindriver to not drink and drive 😃🤪

Actually it's like a huge marked, and you can spend days just working around and looking at things.
Or you use the cable car, and go to a different marked instead. They have markets for witchcraft, vegetables, meat, carparts, clothes. You can find everything in La Paz 😃

We couldn't drive the whole way down this time, because of a landslide, but the upper part is the most spectacular anyway. And this time we also pitched the tent under the coffee break roof for the tourist tours.

The weather was so horrible, that we were sure we will not have lots of people in the morning 🤪

In Bolivia they put up -NO BOTAR BASURA (don't litter) signs everywhere....
They work great, as you can see 🤪

It's sad but it looks like that very often, but on the other hand, there are no trash cans 😬
If they would reduce the density of signs, and just place every 50km a trash can instead, people would have the option to get rid of their trash...
We sometimes had to carry our garbage for 4 days until we found a trashcan....

How to fuel for local price in Bolivia??

In Bolivia there is a governmental supported price for locals (3.74bol, 0,50€) and a foreigner price 9-10bol, 1.25-1.35€). You need a bolivian numberplate or a identity card.

But of course no-one wants to pay more than the double price 🤓

So here is our guide how to fuel cheap, we always got the national price 😃

1. Outside big cities just try your luck, but that's hardly going to work in 2023, because of the camera surveillance

2. Park your bike outside the petrol stations camera reach, and come back with your spare canister.

3. Park outside the camera reach, and rent a spare canister (1bol). Close to Brazil, many locals have to use this service aswell, because this poor guys allegedly ride on stolen bikes, and therefore obviously, don't have a national licence plate 🤪
Just get in line 😉

4. Bring your own local including his identity card 😃
That's a bit of a hassle so we don't recommend it 😜

5. Our favourite is the plastic bag technique.
Simply cover your numberplate with a plastic bag. That usually causes confused faces first, but surprisingly works, because there is no international numberplate 🤣
